Bulletins
January 27, 2013
Download the Bulletin as a PDFThe 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade has come and gone. Another March for Life is in the history books.
Inaugurated is a presidential term whose first preemptive act was to expel from the pulpit a minister who had dared to say that marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman. The Roman Catholic Church was not criticized by name. She is simply unwelcome. Invited to the party are Catholics who condone total war inside and outside the womb. Christianity was not attacked. That can be expected as the engineers of a new society give up on reeducating believers and redefining faith.
What is next? Instead of waiting and worrying, Bishop Loverde wants prayer to bolster your efforts so that we do more than “just do something”. He writes:
This January and throughout the entire New Year, I am asking you to join with me and my fellow bishops in strengthening our commitment to life, to marriage and to religious liberty, which enables us to live out our lives as Catholic citizens of the United States. I encourage you to:
- Participate in Eucharistic Holy Hours for Life, Marriage and Religious Liberty at your parish.
- Pray the daily Rosary individually or as a family.
- Join in the Prayers of the Faithful you will hear at Mass.
- Fast and abstain on Fridays.
- Celebrate a Second Fortnight for Freedom to take place at the end of June 2013.
The entirety of His Excellency’s letter is available through our parish website. Please visit www.stjohncatholicmclean.org to find it, to sign up for our Mailing List, to follow the parish Twitter feed and to learn more about what we can do to improve the health of our commonwealth.
God bless you.
