with Father’s Day only a week away…
I ask you to do what you can to increase the number of priests we have in the Diocese of Arlington.
Pray for priests to be well. Priests who are strong in their vocation encourage each other and attract new ones, much in the same way that some of my childhood friends who despaired of being able to marry happily were relieved of their fears by getting to know my parents.
Speak charitably about the priesthood. While individual priests can be an example of what not to do, the priesthood was established by Christ our of His Love for us. Every disedifying priest I encountered throughout my life only made me want to be a priest even more.
Promise the Blessed Virgin Mary that you will encourage and support all of your friends and family members who express an interest in the priesthood.
Pay attention to the young men in your life and mention to someone whom you could envision being a spiritual father that you think he might be a good priest one day. Even priests need priests. I need a priest to direct my soul, hear my confession and will need one to anoint me and prepare me for eternity.
I see a great many potential future priests at and around St. John the Beloved. Pray to the Sacred Heart that He will inspire many more priests to absolve our sins and to carry our intentions to the altars.
God bless you.
