Download the Bulletin as a PDFThank you, everyone, for your overwhelming response to the announcement that Bishop Loverde has appointed me Pastor at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. I am happy that I can finally burn my cardboard boxes! When the Mass of Installation has been scheduled we will announce it as soon as possible. In the meantime please continue to pray for me.
I am excited to tell you that we have a new business manager at St. John the Beloved. Her name is Kathy Whetzel and she comes to us from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville before which she was business manager also at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn. Kathy has a wealth of experience and should transition into her responsibilities smoothly.
God bless Brian Patterson for all of his diligent service with us over the years and especially over the last few months! We wish Brian great success in his new position as Director of Finance at my alma mater Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA.
After four years of distinguished service Phil Dunton has graduated to the lofty status of Head Usher Emeritus. Phil has worked incredibly hard to keep all of your ushers and priests on the same page and to fill in gaps whenever it was needed. I am especially indebted to him for all his kindness and assistance to me in my first year here.
Our new Head Usher is Randy Bordelon. Randy has known me all fifteen years of my priesthood and he loves this parish. I have every confidence that Randy's spiritual and practical vision for the Usher Corps will keep St. John just as welcoming to visitors entering our doors and reassuring to parishioners entrusting the Church with their donations.
Continuing the great work of Charles McCoy, Tom and Ann Francis have accepted my invitation to serve as Vocation Promoters for the parish. They will be liaisons with the Office of Vocations for the Diocese of Arlington. They will also help me bring to your prayerful attention the many young men and women of our parish who are in seminary or in religious formation, including their own son Thomas.
Pray for vocations!
God bless you.
Fr. Christopher J. Pollard
