Download the Bulletin as a PDFWould it not be helpful to have a booklet in the pews that introduced the Holy Mass to visitors and others in need of a deeper understanding of the Sacred Mysteries?
Would it not be beneficial if the same booklet contained all the prayers on our laminated prayer card?
Would it not be advantageous for such a booklet to have all the prayers and litanies that are found in The Healing Service and The Holy Hour booklet that we use on Wednesdays?
Moreover, would it not be auspicious for said booklet to contain the very best Latin-English translation of the Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form?
Could it be imagined how useful it would be for a booklet of this sort also to contain the prayers that prompt us at various times of the year to print a special booklet, such as Investiture with the Miraculous Medla, Stations of the Cross, Tenebrae, The Divine Office for the Sacred Triduum, The Office of the Dead, Preparation for Total Consecration according to St. Louis de Montfort, Blessing of Holy Water on the Eve of the Epiphany, the Corpus Christ Procession, Baptism in both the Ordinary Form and Extraordinary Form, just to name a few?
Could one say that it might even be delightful if we were to have a booklet, the contents of which included even more of our favorite prayers and litanies not to mention some of our very least favorites such as an Examination of Conscience?
At the risk of being called “inclusive” would it not also be desirable for such a parish prayer book, the likes of which usually carry a warning such “Property of St. Kunegunda Church. DO NOT REMOVE FROM THE PEWS”, to contain instead within its front inside cover a different kind of message, such as:“Patrimony of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. IF YOU LIKE THIS, PLEASE TAKE IT HOME”?
Please offer your suggestions for what else should go in our forthcoming St. John the Beloved Parish Prayer Book. Please volunteer if you would like to be involved in typing and/or typesetting. Please let me know if you would like to be involved in the future, ongoing process of printing new booklets and replacing borrowed one.
God bless you!
