Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1957.
Son of the late Francis and Shirley Burbidge
Graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School in 1975.
B.A. in Philosophy, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary
M.A. in Theology, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary
M.A. in Education Administration from Villanova University
Ph.D. in Education from Immaculata University
Ordained to the priesthood by John Cardinal Krol on May 19, 1984.
Curate at St. Bernard's Church in Philadelphia (1984-1986)
Taught at Cardinal O'Hara High School (1986-1990)
Taught at Archbishop Wood High School (1990-1991)
Dean of Students at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary (1991-1992)
Secretary to Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua (1992-1999)
Rector of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary (1999-2002)
Appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia on June 21, 2002.
Consecrated titular bishop of Cluain Iraird on September 5, 2002.
Appointed Bishop of Raleigh by Pope Benedict XVI on June 8, 2006.
Appointed as the fourth Bishop of Arlington on October 4, 2016.
To be installed on December 6, 2016.
